Load flow
Newton-Raphson on sparse matrices, with regulating tap changers, phase shifters and switched shunts, remote voltage control, reactive limits, distributed slack and area interchange.
PowerStudio is a power system analysis workbench. Draw a network, then run load flow, short-circuit, N-1 contingency, stability and electromagnetic transient studies on it. Everything runs on your device: no account, no server, no tracking.
Five studies, one diagram
Each study reads the same network you draw, runs in a background worker so the diagram stays responsive, and puts its results back on the diagram, in sortable tables and in the inspector. The figures below are the bundled IEEE 14-bus sample, computed when this page was built.
Newton-Raphson on sparse matrices, with regulating tap changers, phase shifters and switched shunts, remote voltage control, reactive limits, distributed slack and area interchange.
IEC 60909-style three-phase, line-to-line and earth faults, maximum and minimum, with peak, breaking and thermal currents, power station units, motors and converter-fed sources.
Every line, transformer or machine out in turn, plus your own multi-element contingencies and remedial actions, ranked by the limits they break.
Electromechanical simulation with round-rotor machines, exciters, governors and stabilisers: faults, clearing, tripping and load steps, plotted over time.
Three-phase waveforms at a microsecond step: lines as travelling waves, transformers by their vector group, faults of every kind, and breaker poles that open at their current zeros.

Verification
The engine's tests compare its results with independent programs and published references on the same networks. The first rows are recomputed when this page was built; the others give the tolerance the tests require.

The short-circuit calculation follows the method of IEC 60909-0 as pandapower implements it; it is not certified against the standard. The full test report, with environments and every number, is in docs/TEST-REPORT.md.
Local-first
Networks save to your browser's storage as you work. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing is uploaded.
The app's Content-Security-Policy sets connect-src 'none', so the page cannot send data anywhere, by design and by test.
The whole app is a single 2147 KB HTML file. Download it, open it from disk, and it runs without a connection.
Scope
PowerStudio is a capable study tool, not a validated engineering product. Check results that matter with a validated tool.
The full list is in the Scope and boundaries section of the README.
The IEEE 14-bus system opens on first start. Press Alt+L and the network is solved.
